The remains, brought to Tangalle last night following post-mortem examinations, were received by a large crowd, including members of the Maha Sangha. Religious rituals were conducted this morning, after which the bodies were handed over to their families.

The death toll from the accident currently stands at 15. Among the victims, 12 were officers of the Tangalle Municipal Council.

Dr. Palitha Rajapaksa, Director of the Emergency Unit at the Badulla General Hospital, stated that 19 individuals injured in the tragedy are still receiving treatment as inpatients.

Meanwhile, Tangalle Municipal Council Chairman P.P.G. Nandasiri announced that the final rites of all victims will be conducted under the leadership of the Council.
