Former Sri Lanka cricketer and international match referee Roshan Mahanama has resigned from his position as a member of the National Sports Council (NSC) with immediate effect.

Mahanama was appointed to the Council for the 2025–2028 term by a letter dated 14 February 2025 and formally accepted the appointment on 20 February 2025.

In a statement announcing his resignation, Mahanama said he was reluctantly compelled to step down due to personal reasons.

This marks the second time Mahanama has resigned from a national sports-related role for personal reasons. In 2022, he resigned from the Cricket Technical Advisory Committee, which had been established to oversee the development of cricket in Sri Lanka.

That four-member committee was appointed on 5 February 2021 by then Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.
