Wife of underworld figure Backhoe Saman remanded

The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (4) ordered the wife of underworld figure Backhoe Saman to be remanded until 18 September.
Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued the order after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) produced her before the court on charges filed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
Backhoe Saman and his wife were among several wanted suspects recently arrested in Indonesia and extradited to Sri Lanka.
