Sri Lanka secured a four-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the first T20 International of their 2025 tour at the Harare Sports Club on September 3, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to field first. Zimbabwe posted a competitive 175 for seven in 20 overs, anchored by a superb 81 off 57 balls from Brian Bennett. Supported by Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl, Zimbabwe built strong partnerships but faltered in the death overs, missing the chance to post a bigger total.
Despite a costly powerplay, Sri Lanka’s bowlers regained control, with debutant Dushan Hemantha impressing by claiming a key wicket and delivering tight spells.
In reply, Sri Lanka reached 177 for six in 19.1 overs, with Hemantha hitting the winning runs in the final over bowled by Blessing Muzarabani. The victory follows Sri Lanka’s 2-0 sweep in the preceding ODI series.
