An individual was injured in a shooting incident that occurred in Maligawatta a short while ago, police said.
According to reports, two unidentified men arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire at a man inside a spare parts shop in the area.
Police suspect that a T-56 assault rifle was used in the shooting.
The injured individual has been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment. Investigations are ongoing.
