UNP postpones anniversary celebration over Wickremesinghe’s health

The United National Party (UNP) has postponed its 79th anniversary celebration, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 6, due to the health condition of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
UNP General Secretary Thalatha Athukorale said the decision was made by the party’s management committee during a meeting in Colombo on Tuesday.
She noted that the event will be rescheduled for later this month, adding that the decision was taken following medical advice given to Wickremesinghe and at the request of party committee members.
