Suspect arrested over plot to kill ‘Harak Kata’ disguised as journalist

The arrest was made today (02) by the Western Province North Crimes Division. Investigations have revealed that the suspect, an employee of a state institution, had planned the attack on the instructions of another underworld leader, Kehelbaddara Padme.

Police said the suspect had intended to disguise himself as a journalist to gain access to a court premises where “Harak Kata” is being held in custody.

At the time of the arrest, officers recovered a revolver and a destroyed video camera believed to have been part of the plan.

Authorities are conducting further investigations into the suspect’s connections and the extent of the conspiracy.
