The Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation has announced that tenders have been invited for the renovation of the Colombo Fort Railway Station, one of Sri Lanka’s busiest transport hubs.

The project, backed by funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), aims to modernize the historic station and transform it into a fully integrated transport hub with enhanced passenger facilities.

According to the Ministry, the estimated cost of the renovation is Rs. 1,395 million, with the project expected to be completed within 15 months of commencement.

Tenders have already been called, and development work is scheduled to begin by the end of this year, the Ministry confirmed.
