Former ministers Rajitha Senaratne and Nimal Lanza, currently in remand custody, have been granted permission to receive food from their homes.
- Prisons spokesperson Jagath Weerasinghe said that the approval was issued following formal requests submitted by both individuals.
Former Minister Rajitha Senaratne is in remand until September 9 in connection with a case involving an alleged financial loss of over Rs. 20 million to the state. The loss is linked to the awarding of a sand mining project at the Kirinda fisheries harbor to a Korean company.
Meanwhile, Nimal Lanza has been remanded until September 12 over charges stemming from an incident during the 2006 local government election period. He is accused of involvement in an attack on the residence of the then Deputy Mayor of Negombo.
