Starting today (September 1), all passengers traveling in passenger transport buses on expressways are required to wear seat belts.

Chairman of the National Council for Road Safety, Manjula Kularatne, announced that legal action will be taken against individuals who fail to comply with this regulation.

However, he noted that a three-month grace period has been granted for the installation of seat belts in buses that are not yet equipped with them.
