A flight carrying five underworld criminals, including the notorious gang leader Kehelbaddara Padme, is expected to land at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake within the next few hours, Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala confirmed today (30).

The group, arrested in Indonesia, departed from Jakarta with the assistance of the Indonesian government to facilitate their transfer to Sri Lanka.

The suspects include Kehelbaddara Padme, Commando Salinda alias Pittuwa, Panadura Nilanga, Bako Saman, and Tembili Lahiru.

Their extradition is being carried out under the supervision of a Sri Lankan police team led by ASP Rohan Olugala of the Western Province North Division Crimes Unit and an ASP from the Criminal Investigation Department, working in collaboration with Indonesian police.

This marks a significant development in the ongoing crackdown on organized crime syndicates operating across Sri Lanka and overseas.
