A special police team is scheduled to depart for Indonesia today to bring back arrested organized criminals, including underworld figure Kehelbaddara Padme, to Sri Lanka.

The team, working in coordination with Sri Lankan police officers already in Indonesia and with the assistance of Indonesian security forces, will escort Kehelbaddara Padme and his group under tight security. Police said the group is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka tomorrow afternoon.

Meanwhile, the wife and child of organized criminal “Backhoe” Saman, who was also arrested in Indonesia, arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday afternoon and were taken into the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Police have also launched an investigation into assets allegedly acquired through illegal means by Kehelbaddara Padme and his associates, revealing that he had purchased several movable and immovable properties in Sri Lanka with illicit funds. Investigations are also underway into properties linked to “Commando” Salintha.

Two days ago, Indonesian police, in collaboration with Sri Lankan police and Interpol, arrested six people, including the leaders of three major organized crime gangs – Kehelbaddara Padme, Commando Salintha, and Panadura Nilanga. Also taken into custody were Backhoe Saman’s wife and child.
