Sri Lanka will return to international football with back-to-back matches against the Maldives in the South Asian Super Cup, scheduled for 6 and 9 September at the Race Course Grounds in Colombo.

Originally planned as a four-nation tournament, the event was revised to a two-match series due to uncertainty over other teams’ participation, the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) confirmed.

These fixtures will be Sri Lanka’s first international games since June, when they played Chinese Taipei. The Golden Lions enter the series in strong form, with three wins from their last four matches. Captain Sujan Perera is expected to lead the side, with the final squad to be announced soon.

The matches offer both teams valuable preparation for upcoming regional and international competitions, with Sri Lanka aiming to make the most of home advantage.
