
Showers and Strong Winds Expected in some districts

Strong winds of 40–50 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills and in Northern, North-central, Western, and North-western provinces, along with Trincomalee and Hambantota districts. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize possible damage.
Meanwhile, the sun will be directly overhead Sri Lanka from August 28 to September 7 due to its apparent southward motion. Today (29), the overhead sun will pass over areas including Kumulamunai, Padinaddampore, Alankulam, Thanniyuttu, Vettappalai, and Mullaitivu at around 12:11 p.m.
Sea Areas:
Showers are expected at several places in the sea areas from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle. Winds will be westerly to south-westerly at speeds of 30–40 kmph, strengthening up to 50–60 kmph in sea areas off Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar, and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
The seas off Chilaw to Kankasanthurai and Matara to Pottuvil are expected to be rough at times, while the seas off Chilaw to Matara and Kankasanthurai to Trincomalee will be fairly rough at times.
