A delegation of Sri Lankan Parliamentarians, including Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, is currently in India on a study tour.
The group also includes opposition MPs Rauf Hakeem, Ravi Karunanayake, and Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam. During the visit, the delegation held discussions with Indian Parliamentarian Anurag Thakur.
Thakur described the meeting as “very fruitful,” stating that the Sri Lankan MPs were keen to understand the factors behind the success of parliamentary democracy in India.
“India and Sri Lanka are not just two nations but two brothers, bound by shared heritage and connected culturally and emotionally since ancient times. Both nations have been great friends, and India has always stood by Sri Lanka as part of our Brother First Policy,” he said in a post on X.
