The Ministry of Public Security said that long-overdue promotions will be granted to police officers after a lapse of five years.
Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala said that promotions will be awarded to officers serving in ranks from Police Constable up to Chief Inspector of Police.
The long-awaited move is scheduled to take effect next month and is expected to benefit more than 5,000 officers across the country.
“This decision not only recognizes the dedication of our police personnel but also opens up vital opportunities for career advancement and professional development,” Minister Wijepala said.
He further said that members of the Police Special Task Force (STF) will also be included in the promotion scheme, ensuring that specialized units are equally acknowledged for their service.
