Making history, Mrs. Sasidevi Jaladeepan has been appointed as the new Registrar General, becoming the first woman to hold the post in the 160-year history of the Department of the Registrar General. She officially assumed duties in her new role today (26)
A member of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service since 2003, Jaladeepan has served in a number of key positions, including Divisional Secretary of Trincomalee and Dimbulagala. She has also worked as Senior Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of National Policies and Economic Development, the State Ministry of Economic Policies, and the State Ministry of Finance, Capital Market, and Enterprise Reforms.
She went on to serve as Director at the Department of Project Management and Monitoring, and most recently held the position of Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government.
Her appointment marks a significant milestone in the country’s administrative history, opening the door for greater female representation in top government positions.
