Sri Lanka has welcomed a total of 166,766 tourists so far in the month of August, according to the latest data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
India continues to be the leading source market with 38,456 tourists arriving during August, accounting for 23.1% of the total arrivals. The United Kingdom followed with 17,418 visitors, while 11,459 tourists arrived from Italy, 10,559 from China, and 10,344 from Germany.
With the August arrivals, the total number of tourists who have visited Sri Lanka in 2025 has increased to 1,535,054. Out of this figure, 317,578 visitors were from India, 148,795 from the United Kingdom, and 118,371 from Russia, the SLTDA reported.
Tourism authorities note that the steady increase in arrivals reflects the recovery of the industry, with Sri Lanka continuing to attract strong numbers from its key markets.
