Police Special Task Force (STF) officers have arrested the gunman involved in the Boralesgamuwa shooting that occurred on Malani Bulathsinghala Mawatha in the early hours of August 24, where one person was killed and another injured.
The arrest was made at Navinna in the Maharagama Police Division, following a tip-off. The operation was carried out on the orders of STF Commanding Officer DIG Samantha De Silva, under the supervision of Director Intelligence SP D.P.U. Kodituwakku, and led by Inspector Wanniarachchi and his team from STF Special Operations III.
The suspect, a 24-year-old resident of Jinthupitiya, Colombo 13, is reportedly a close associate of underworld figure “Badowita Asanka.” STF officers also seized 20.55 grams of heroin from his possession.
He has been handed over to the Province Southern Crime Division for further investigations.
