The Sri Lankan shooting contingent returned home triumphantly early this morning (25) after securing three silver medals and one bronze medal at the Bali Open Handgun and Pistol Carbine Meet – 2025, held in Bali, Indonesia.

The international championship, which took place from August 18 to 23, featured over 450 competitors from 12 countries.

Sri Lanka’s medals came through 12-year-old Kael Liyanage, who won silver in the junior carbine category, 16-year-old Rayel Liyanage, who earned silver in the junior handgun division, and Retired Lieutenant Colonel Janaka Ritigahapola, who clinched silver in the senior handgun category. Meanwhile, 13-year-old Daniel Cavoo added to the tally with a bronze medal in the junior handgun category.

Significantly, the three young medalists are still pursuing their school education in Sri Lanka, marking a proud moment for the nation.

The team landed at Katunayake International Airport at midnight today on Singapore Airlines flight SQ-468 and were welcomed by officials of the National Rifle Association of Sri Lanka.
