The launch ceremony of Gem Sri Lanka 2026, organized by the Ceylon Gem and Jewellery Traders’ Association (CGJTA), is set to take place on August 26 at 4:00 p.m. at the Lotus Ballroom of Shangri-La, Colombo. The event will be graced by Minister of Industry and Business Development, Sunil Handunnetti, Colombo Mayor, Wraye Kelly Balthazar, and a host of local and international dignitaries.

Held annually, Gem Sri Lanka is recognized as South Asia’s premier international gem and jewellery exhibition. The upcoming edition will mark the third time the exhibition is being organized, highlighting its growing prominence.

The Gem Sri Lanka 2026 exhibition is scheduled from January 7 to 9, 2026, in Colombo. Organizers anticipate it will be a prime opportunity to attract high-profile gem buyers from around the world and facilitate networking between top buyers and gem traders.

Under the theme, “The Source. The Production. The Selection,” the exhibition aims to promote rare, high-quality gemstones while positioning Sri Lanka as a global hub for gems. The event will also showcase the entire journey of gemstones—from mining to the hands of expert cutters—highlighting the craftsmanship of the country’s gem industry.

As the largest gem traders’ association in Sri Lanka, CGJTA, with thousands of members, is collaborating with historic and major international gem markets such as the Chinese Market in Pettah and the Beruwala Gem Market to organize this prestigious international exhibition.
