Sri Lanka’s first celebrity wax museum to open in Colombo

The announcement was made during a special press briefing held on the 22nd at Hilton Colombo, with the participation of veteran artists, media personalities, and tourism industry leaders.
At the event, wax figures of Mahendra Perera, Ravindra Randeniya, Amitabh Bachchan, and Brad Pitt were symbolically showcased. The presence of Sri Lankan cinema legends Mahendra Perera and Ravindra Randeniya added further prestige to the occasion.
The wax figures have been designed under the creative direction of veteran sculptor Athula Herath, a pioneer in introducing lifelike wax sculptures to Sri Lanka. He is also the artist behind the wax statues at the recently opened Ahelepola Walawwa Wax Museum in Kandy.
In its first phase, the Colombo Wax Museum will feature around 40 high-quality wax figures of Sri Lankan and international personalities, including Hollywood and Bollywood stars, legendary musicians, world-renowned scientists, and famous athletes.
Once opened, the Colombo Wax Museum is expected to become a major attraction for both local and international visitors, offering a world-class experience while significantly contributing to Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.
