Court orders Arjuna Mahendran to appear over 2015 Bond scam

Chief Magistrate Tanuja Lakmali Jayatunga issued the order following a request from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

Court was informed that a previous notice issued last year had not been properly executed as Mahendran currently resides in Singapore. CIABOC therefore requested the order be served in English, which the Magistrate approved.

Mahendran, a key suspect in the high-profile bond scam that sparked nationwide outrage in 2015, has repeatedly failed to appear before Sri Lankan courts since leaving the country.
