
Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe Transferred to National Hospital

Prison authorities have decided to transfer former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is currently in remand custody, to the National Hospital in Colombo due to health-related concerns.
Officials said the decision taken following medical advice, as his condition required specialized treatment that could not be adequately provided within the Prisons Hospital.
Mr.Wickremesinghe was remanded until August 26 by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court after being arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on allegations of misusing state funds while in office.
Hospital and prison officials confirmed that necessary security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of the former President during his stay at the National Hospital.
