Heavy rainfall of over 50 mm is likely in some districts

The Department of Meteorology announces that showers or thundershowers are expected in several areas of the Northern, North-Central, Central, Uva, and Eastern provinces after 2.00 p.m. Fairly heavy rainfall of over 50 mm is likely in some of these areas.
Meanwhile, a few showers are expected in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
The public is advised to take precautions against strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
Rain: Showers may occur at a few places in sea areas from Chilaw to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
Winds: Westerly to south-westerly at speeds of 25–35 kmph. Wind speeds may increase up to 50 kmph at times in sea areas from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
Sea Condition: Seas off the coast from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota may be fairly rough at times.
