Former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed has voiced hope that former Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe will return home soon, after his recent arrest in Colombo.

In a post on social media platform X, Nasheed said he was “very much looking forward” to Wickremesinghe’s return, tagging the former president’s official account.

Wickremesinghe was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Department on Friday over allegations of misusing state funds during his presidency. His arrest has drawn significant regional attention, marking the first time a former Sri Lankan head of state has been detained on corruption charges.
