Speaking in Parliament, Dassanayake questioned how such content could be published without prior knowledge, urging clarification on whether details of a planned arrest had been disclosed to social media influencers.
He further accused the NPP-led government of suppressing the rights of individuals who helped it secure electoral victory, citing postal workers, traffic police officers, teachers, school principals, tuition masters, and estate sector communities who actively supported the party during elections.
Dassanayake criticised the government for failing to address grievances of these groups, including unresolved postal worker demands, large-scale police transfers without transparency, and the delay in raising estate workers’ daily wages.
