Passengers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) raised strong complaints last night (16) over severe congestion, with unusually long queues reported at both check-in counters and immigration.
Several travellers stated that they had nearly missed their flights due to the extended delays, while others described the departure areas as “overcrowded and chaotic.”
According to passengers, the airport appeared to be operating beyond its capacity, as multiple international flights had been scheduled for departure around the same time, leading to heavy congestion.
Tourists were also among those affected, with many voicing frustration over the difficulties faced during the departure process.
