Traffic Restrictions in Bellanwila & Nawagamuwa for Esala Perahera

In Bellanwila, vehicular movement will be restricted tonight (August 15) from 7:00 PM onwards for the Randoli Perahera of the Bellanwila Esala Festival.

Route 119 will be closed from Boralesgamuwa Junction to Bellanthota Junction.

Route 117 will be closed from Bellanthota Junction to Pepiliyana Junction.

Police advise motorists to use alternative routes until midnight, when the procession concludes. The final Randoli Perahera of the Bellanwila Esala Festival will be held tomorrow night (August 16) under similar arrangements.

Meanwhile, in Nawagamuwa, traffic restrictions will be in place for the annual Esala Perahera of the Nawagamuwa Pattini Devalaya.

From 9:00 PM on August 16 until 2:30 AM the following morning, the old Avissawella–Colombo road will be closed from Wela Junction to Ranala Junction.

On August 17, the same stretch will be closed again from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Motorists are urged to plan journeys in advance and use alternate routes during the closure periods.
