Colombo Stock Exchange Closes Above 20,000 Points for First Time

The All Share Price Index (ASPI) of the Colombo Stock Exchange closed above the 20,000-point level for the first time in history today (15), marking a significant milestone for Sri Lanka’s capital market.

The ASPI gained 289.69 points during trading to end the day at 20,218.36 points. On August 4, the index had briefly crossed the 20,000 mark during intraday trading, but closed below it by the end of that session.

Trading activity was also notably strong, with a massive turnover of Rs. 9.54 billion recorded for the day.
