Minuwangoda Police on Friday (15) arrested a 45-year-old suspect in possession of a large stock of weapons and ammunition during a raid on a house near the Minuwangoda Hospital.
Minuwangoda Police on Friday (15) arrested a 45-year-old suspect in possession of a large stock of weapons and ammunition during a raid on a house near the Minuwangoda Hospital.
Police said the suspect, a resident of the Minuwangoda area, is employed as a security guard at Katunayake International Airport.
The raid, carried out on a tip-off, led to the recovery of a T-56 firearm with a magazine, 14 rounds of T-56 ammunitio, a pistol with a magazine, nine 2.5mm ammunition rounds, nine 9mm ammunition rounds, two other fake firearms (pistol and revolver type), three swords and two daggers.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Minuwangoda Police Station.
