His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith has alleged that certain groups, in collaboration with foreign organisations, are attempting to promote homosexuality (LGBTQ) in Sri Lanka.
He further claimed that some political parties and leaders are also involved in this agenda.
The Cardinal made these remarks during a ceremony held in Colombo to confer the honorary title of *Aggamaha Pandita* on the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna, Dharma Keerthi Sri Dr. Akuretiye Nanda Nayaka Thero.
Also speaking at the event, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa emphasised the need to prioritise human rights in any future constitutional amendments.
