Five Chinese nationals suspected of involvement in cyber fraud were deported by Immigration and Emigration officers at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

The group, who arrived from Bangkok on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-405 at around 10.30 a.m., raised suspicion during immigration clearance and were referred to the Chief Immigration and Emigration Officer for further checks.

Although they held valid pre-residence visas and claimed they were coming to work for a Colombo Port City company, investigations revealed they had previously worked for suspicious firms in Cambodia and the Philippines, both linked to cybercrime activities.

Following the probe, the five were handed over to SriLankan Airlines for immediate deportation.
