Former local council member killed in shooting

A former member of the Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha, Shantha Mudunkotuwa, was killed in a shooting incident in Meegoda earlier today, police said.

Police said the victim was riding a motorbike along Attygalle Road when he was shot at by unidentified gunmen travelling in a car. He was admitted to the hospital where later he succumbed to injuries.

Police have launched an investigation to identify and arrest the suspects involved in the attack. The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
