Ex-Minister allegedly steals documents at Bank auction

The Thalathuoya Police have launched an investigation into an incident involving former MP and Minister Daya Gamage, who allegedly stole auction documents during a land auction held by the National Development Bank (NDB) yesterday (11).

The auction was related to a 20-acre property in the Haragama Maligatenna area, which Gamage had mortgaged to the bank in 2013 in exchange for Rs. 225 million.

According to police, Gamage arrived at the scene with a group and allegedly acted in a disorderly manner before removing the auction documents.

Investigations are ongoing.
