The Ministry of Defence has revealed that 11 Sri Lankan nationals have been sent to cybercrime hubs in Southeast Asia in recent weeks.

According to Ministry sources, investigations have uncovered that these individuals were recruited under various pretexts and later transported overseas, where they were forced or lured into participating in illicit online activities.

Authorities are currently working with foreign law enforcement agencies to trace the victims and dismantle the networks responsible for trafficking Sri Lankans into cybercrime operations.

The Ministry urged the public to remain cautious about suspicious overseas job offers, especially those promising unusually high salaries, as they could be linked to such illegal operations.
