Renuka Ekanayake has resigned from her position as a member of the National Police Commission.

Renuka Ekanayake has resigned from her position as a member of the National Police Commission.

Her resignation letter was forwarded to Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne. A member of the Commission confirmed that they have also received a copy of the letter.

Renuka Ekanayake is the wife of former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake and a former Ministry Secretary.

Recently, the Criminal Investigation Department questioned her regarding the importation of dairy cattle from Australia between 2012 and 2017 amid concerns of financial irregularities and procedural lapses.
