Police Hunt for Former MP Athuraliye Rathana Thera

According to police, the abduction was allegedly carried out to force Ven. Wimalatissa Thera to sign documents enabling Rathana Thera to secure a National List seat in Parliament.

Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) officers have reportedly visited Rathana Thera’s temple in Rajagiriya, as well as several other temples, meditation centres, and housing complexes, but have been unable to locate him.

Authorities say his mobile phone remains switched off, while measures have been implemented to prevent him from leaving the country.
