The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has decided to temporarily suspend the island-wide strike that was scheduled to begin today morning, following positive and constructive responses during discussions with the Minister of Health.

The GMOA said the decision was made after reviewing agreements reached regarding issues in the doctors’ transfer process. The association will continue to closely monitor the progress of implementing these agreements before deciding on any future course of action.

Meanwhile, the GMOA stressed that the flawed post-residency appointment vacancy list must be corrected. Until a revised list prepared according to proper procedures is published, all post-residency doctors will refrain from applying for the existing list as part of their trade union action.
