Sri Lanka’s top-ranked girls’ choir, Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo, has made the nation proud by clinching three Gold medals at the prestigious 2025 Voyage of Songs International Choir Competition held in Bangkok, Thailand.
The senior choir, led by the renowned conductor Rohan de Lanerolle, not only secured Gold medals but also emerged as Category Champion and earned the title of Best Conductor, solidifying their position among the world’s best young choral ensembles.
Held from August 2 to 5, the international competition brought together choirs from across the globe and was adjudicated by a panel of world-renowned choral experts, conductors, and clinicians. The event served as a global platform to exchange knowledge in choral pedagogy, repertoire, and performance techniques.
Visakha Vidyalaya’s stellar performance is being hailed as a major achievement for Sri Lanka’s music and performing arts scene, and a reflection of the country's growing talent on the international stage.
