Parliament to Debate Motion to Remove IGP Tennakoon Today

The Sri Lankan Parliament is scheduled to debate a motion regarding the removal of Inspector General of Police (IGP) T. M. W. Deshabandu Tennakoon under Section 17 of the Removal of Public Officers (Procedure) Act No. 5 of 2002.

According to the day's agenda, the time from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. has been allocated for parliamentary business as listed under Standing Order 22 (1) to (6). From 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., time is set aside for questions requiring oral answers, while 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. will be reserved for questions under Standing Order 27(2).

Thereafter, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the debate on the motion to remove IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon will take place, followed by a vote on the matter at 4:00 p.m.

From 4:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the House will deliberate and approve regulations under the Excise (Special Provisions) Act and the Judicature Act.

Finally, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., a motion brought forward by the opposition to adjourn the Parliament will be debated.
