The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has suspended the judicial duties of Thilina Gamage, who served as both Magistrate and District Judge in Moratuwa, amidst an ongoing misconduct investigation.

The suspension follows serious allegations that Gamage illegally possessed a baby elephant named “Sakura” using a forged permit—an offense under the Public Property Act. In June, a formal charge sheet was filed, and the JSC has now called on Gamage to submit his explanation within 21 days.
