A policy-level decision has been made to convert the official residence of the Speaker into a Parliamentary Centre for Studies and Research, aimed at strengthening the governance and legislative capabilities of government institutions.

The move was approved during a high-level meeting held on July 24.

The proposed centre will provide advanced research, training, and policy analysis facilities and is expected to operate under the supervision of the Secretary General of Parliament.

A retired senior public official will be appointed as project manager for the initial phase lasting six months. Funding for the project will be sourced from parliamentary provisions, as well as international cooperation from the UNDP and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. Additional funding methods include government grants, donations, and training fees.
