In a significant step towards enhancing public accessibility to geographical resources, the Department of Survey has introduced an online platform that allows the public to order official maps and have them delivered directly to their homes.

Surveyor General W.G. Gnanathilaka announced that this new service aims to modernize the way survey-related information is accessed by citizens, researchers, developers, and government institutions.

By visiting the department’s official website https://survey.gov.lk, users can browse, select, and purchase various types of maps prepared by the department.

“This initiative ensures that our services are more user-friendly and accessible to all Sri Lankans, regardless of their location,” Gnanathilaka stated. “With just a few clicks, anyone can now obtain accurate and up-to-date maps without visiting our offices physically.”

T6he Department of Survey, Sri Lanka’s national mapping authority, has a long-standing history of providing vital geospatial data and maps used in urban planning, land development, environmental studies, and education.

The new online map ordering system supports secure payments and offers delivery options islandwide, streamlining the entire process for convenience and efficiency.

Officials further noted that the system is part of a broader digital transformation plan aimed at bringing more public services online to reduce administrative delays and promote transparency.
