Special Train Services for Esala Perahera Pilgrims

The Sri Lanka Railways Department has announced the operation of eight special train services to facilitate the transportation of pilgrims and tourists travelling to Kandy for the Randoli Perahera of the annual Esala Perahera.

These special trains will run daily from August 4 to 8, covering key routes such as Colombo Fort, Kandy, Matale, Nawalapitiya, and Polgahawela.

🗓️ Special Train Schedule:

🚉 Train No. 1: Colombo Fort ➝ Kandy | Departs at 8:55 a.m.

🚉 Train No. 3: Kandy ➝ Matale | Departs at 3:30 p.m.

🚉 Train No. 4: Kandy ➝ Colombo Fort | Departs at 11:30 p.m.

🚉 Train No. 5: Kandy ➝ Matale | Departs at 11:35 p.m.

🚉 Train No. 6: Matale ➝ Nawalapitiya | Departs at 1:55 p.m.

🚉 Train No. 7: Kandy ➝ Nawalapitiya | Departs at 11:55 p.m.

🚉 Train No. 8: Kandy ➝ Polgahawela | Departs at 11:45 p.m.

The Railways Department stated that these services are aimed at easing transport congestion and ensuring a comfortable and safe journey for those visiting Kandy during the peak Perahera days.

The Randoli Perahera is one of the most spectacular cultural and religious processions in Sri Lanka, attracting thousands of local and foreign visitors annually.
