Former Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Priyantha Jayakody has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The arrest was made in connection with a complaint he had allegedly lodged, falsely claiming that he received death threats from the underworld figure Koralagamage Mandinu Padmasiri, also known as ‘Kehelbaddara Padme’.
According to reports, the former Senior DIG is currently receiving treatment at Ragama Hospital, where he remains under CID custody due to an illness. Investigations are ongoing.
