Intermittent showers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts. Meanwhile, North-western province may experience several spells of light rain.
Strong Winds Warning:
Strong winds ranging from 55-60 kmph are expected over the Western slopes of the central hills, and across the Northern, North-central, and Central provinces, including Puttalam, Trincomalee, Monaragala, and Hambantota districts.
Elsewhere, wind speeds may reach 40-50 kmph, prompting officials to advise the public to take necessary precautions against potential damage caused by these gusty conditions.
Sea Area Forecast – Next 24 Hours
Rain Conditions:
Showers will affect sea areas off the coast stretching from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
Wind Conditions:
Winds will be westerly to south-westerly, with speeds of 35-45 kmph.
Wind speeds may increase up to 60-65 kmph in sea areas from Kalpitiya to Kankasanthurai via Mannar.
Speeds of 50-55 kmph are expected from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota, and from Kankasanthurai to Trincomalee via Mullaittivu.
Sea Conditions:
Sea areas between Kalpitiya and Kankasanthurai via Mannar will be rough or very rough.
→ Naval and fishing communities are strongly advised to avoid these areas for the next 24 hours.
Other coastal areas from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil and Kankasanthurai to Trincomalee may experience fairly rough to rough seas.
→ Those engaged in maritime activities in these zones are urged to exercise caution.
