Employees representing 28 trade unions within the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) have launched a collective sick leave protest today (22), demanding the protection of their benefits and privileges.

Kosala Abeysinghe, President of the CEB Technical Engineers' Union, stated that the action aims to urge authorities to sign a collective agreement safeguarding employee rights.

The unions emphasize that the protest stems from growing concerns over job security and workers’ rights, and they are calling for immediate formal negotiations to resolve the issue.
