Pilot missing after BAF training aircraft crashes in Dhaka

Pilot of a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet, Flight Lieutenant Tawkir Islam Sagar, has gone missing after the aircraft crashed in the field of Milestone School and College at Diabari area of the capital’s Uttara.

The missing pilot took off with the F-7 BGI training jet around 1:06 pm and crashed minutes later, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The jet struck one of the buildings on the school campus and immediately caught fire, causing panic among students, parents, and staff. At least one student has reportedly died.

Ten units of the Fire Service and members of the Bangladesh Army are conducting rescue operations at the spot. The injured are being airlifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

Search and rescue efforts are ongoing to locate the missing pilot.
