Red Warning Issued for Strong Winds and Rough Seas

The Department of Meteorology has issued a ‘Red’ warning for strong winds and dangerous sea conditions from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota. Wind speeds may reach 60–70 kmph, with waves rising up to 3 meters, posing a high risk of coastal surges.
Naval and fishing communities are strongly advised to avoid these sea areas for the next 24 hours. Those operating between Puttalam and Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankesanthurai are also urged to remain cautious and follow updates from the Met. Department.
